Instructions
-
Go to a fun location. Go to a park, yard, or other interesting location. For a challenge, try using a location that is indoors.
-
Select method of play. The method of play should have a reasonable match with your location.
-
Mission card: Find six items indicated by the six pictures on the card. As the kit provides both indoor and outdoor cards, you can match the card to the location. The mission card can slot inside the wooden box to indicate where the found items should go. If the items are either live creatures or too big to fit inside the box, just use the included pencil to mark the mission card (a checkmark for example)
-
Pattern card: Find six items that match items on the card. If you find enough items, you can even try to re-create the pattern!
-
Dice: Roll the dice and find something that matches the description. The dice can be rolled six times per adventure.
-
Choose an adventurer. Designate one person the “adventurer” who starts play. If multiple people are playing, the youngest person starts as the adventurer, the second youngest is the adventurer after that, and so on.
-
Search for treasure. The adventurer chooses an item to seek by selecting one of the six indicated items (mission card), one of the items in the pattern (pattern card), or rolling a dice. The adventurer then uses the equipment (magnifying glass, binoculars, and tweezers) to find the appropriate item.
-
Collect the evidence. If the item can be safely collected because it is small, safe, and non-living, the adventurer can use the tweezers to put the item in the wooden box. Otherwise, the adventurer can lightly mark the appropriate place for the item in the wooden box with the pencil.
-
Rotate play. If only one person is playing, that person stays the adventurer and selects the next item they wish to seek. If multiple people are playing, the next youngest person is now the adventurer and chooses an item to seek.
End the game. Play proceeds until either the current adventurer cannot find an item, or until six total items are found. Erase all marks on the mission cards to prep the kit for future games.
